Did we mention Supercharged? 2010 XF Supercharged.

The XF Supercharged blends the seamless power of a new 470 horsepower supercharged 5.0 Liter v8 engine with a premium specification and one of Jaguar’s most luxurious and most exquisitely crafted interiors.

The 2010 Jaguar XF Supercharged sprints from zero to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. The horsepower is a 12 percent increase over the 4.2-liter 2009 supercharged XF.

Exterior cues on the 2010 Jaguar XF Supercharged include 20-inch Selena alloy wheels, “Supercharged” badging on the rear trunk lid, quad polished exhaust tailpipes and silver-gray painted brake calipers.

The 2010 XF Supercharged follows Jaguar’s standard of plush interior accents which include rich oak veneer, a 440W Bowers & Wilkins surround sound, HD radio and a heated steering wheel.

The Jaguar XF is available with a choice of four trim levels and four engines.

The 2010 Jaguar has been summed up by Motor Trend as “an Attack Cat”

Joining the stunning Jaguar XF midsize sedan are a new high-po XF Premium and an even higher-po XFR. Both new models receive new AJ-V8 gen III engines, Premium getting a naturally aspirated version of the 5.0L V-8 while the XFR adds a supercharger to make 510 hp. The XFR is further distinguished by changes to the grille and 20-in. alloy wheels.

Recipe – Mandy’s Veggie Lasagna

Mandy’s Veggie Lasagna

  • 20 lasagna noodles (I like Healthy Harvest wheat)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup chopped fresh mushrooms
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 small zucchini
  • 1 medium green bell pepper
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 2 cups fresh spinach
  • 3 cups cottage cheese
  • 2/3 cup grated Romano cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3 cups tomato pasta sauce
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add lasagna noodles and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain.
  3. In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook mushrooms, onions, zucchini, green pepper and garlic in olive oil until onions are tender. Drain excess liquid and cool. Boil spinach for 5 minutes. Drain, then squeeze out excess liquid. Chop spinach.
  4. Combine cottage cheese, Romano cheese, spinach, salt, oregano, basil, pepper, and egg in a bowl. Add cooled mushroom mixture and combine with a fork. Lay 3 lasagna noodles lengthwise in bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Spread one third of the cheese/spinach mixture over noodles. Sprinkle ½ cup mozzarella cheese and ¼ cup Parmesan cheese on top. Spread 1 cup spaghetti sauce over cheese. Repeat layering 2 times. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup mozzarella and ½ cup parmesan cheese on the top.
  5. Cover dish with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven for 1 hour. Cool 15 minutes before serving.

Travel Review – Branson, MO

I had the pleasure of visiting Branson, Mo for the first time in twelve years at the beginning of November.  To say I was blown away would be an understatement!  Branson has grown up in a good way and has something for everyone.

We stayed at the Holiday Hills Resort, where we got a one week stay in a two bedroom condo for only $380!  With five of my children, we filled the space nicely and had plenty of room for our things.  The resort is located 3 miles east of the amazing Branson Landing (more later on that!) and is set around an 18-hole golf course.

We did the Titanic Museum Tour.  The coolest thing about the tour is you are assigned a passenger when you start your tour.  You learn all about the person and then when the tour is over, you learn whether or not you survived the tragedy or not.  My wife and daughter survived.

We also were there for the Annual Christmas Parade and saw several stars of the Branson Strip.  Andy Williams and the Osmond Brothers were the highlight of the slowest moving parade I have ever seen.

We raced go karts on one of several tracks in Branson.  My 4-year-old Williams giggled the whole time and was pleased to have “won”.  We then went into the arcade and beat the stuffing out of a few moles and alligators.

We ate at several restaurants and were pleased to find out that the next big thing in Branson is a Restaurant row with famous national chains like PF Chang and Cheesecake Factory coming soon.  Of course, you can find just about every imaginable buffet in Branson if that is your favorite kind of meal.

We spent our first evening at the Branson Landing.  It is an outdoor mall with a Belk’s Department Store on one end and a Bass Pro Shop on the other.  The water show was a scaled down Bellagio show with the addition of fire and explosions thrown in.  We ate at the San Francisco Oven, which was like a McAlister’s, except with good food and a quiet atmosphere.

We only went to two of the four outlet malls (I had three teenage daughters with us) and one was packed, the other not.  It was sad to see the red roof outlet mall so rundown.  That was the biggest and best twelve years ago.

All in all, we had a great time and would go again.  Check around and shop for deals and you can spend an affordable weekend that is a short drive from Wichita.

Movie Review – 2012 (PG-13)

If a film critic awards four stars to a movie directed by Roland Emmerich — Hollywood’s reigning king of catastrophe, the critically scorned director of “Independence Day” and “Godzilla” — will the world come to an end? That’s a question the ancient Mayans never asked, but it’s the one facing me after the enormously satisfying, astonishingly accomplished, reprehensible-yet-irresistible “2012,” the crowning achievement in Emmerich’s long, profitable career as a destroyer of worlds.

Starting with the long-held misapprehension that the Mayan calendar picks 2012 as the date of humanity’s doom, Emmerich fleshes out that bit of pseudo-history with some pseudo-science — some nonsense about solar flares, and neutrinos heating the Earth’s core — and throws hundreds of millions of dollars and an expertly chosen cast at it. The result is a movie that takes the manifold guilty pleasures of such past Emmerich extravaganzas as “Independence Day” and “The Day After Tomorrow” — not to mention the Emmerich-inspired “Armageddon” and “Deep Impact” — and amplifies and expands them until they fill up 2 1/2 overstuffed hours.
